The short version: we collect what the app needs to rank a menu, we never sell it, and you can delete all of it from inside the app.

| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous account id | So your saved items and price reports belong to something before you sign in | Until you delete the account |
| Email and name, only if you sign in with Google or Apple | So the same account works on a new phone | Until you delete the account |
| Saved items, price reports, posts, logged orders | The features themselves | Until you delete them or the account |
| Approximate location, while the app is open | To find menus near you | Not stored — it is used for the query and discarded |
| Photos of menu boards you choose to scan | Reading prices off the board | Deleted automatically after 30 days |
| Usage events (screens opened, goals chosen, errors) | Knowing which parts of the app work | 14 months, then aggregated |
Google Firebase hosts the app, the database, the file storage, authentication and analytics on our behalf. Google Cloud Vision and Vertex AI read a scanned menu photo to extract prices. USDA FoodData Central and Google Places are queried by our servers, never by your device, and they receive no personal data about you. We do not sell or share personal data with anyone else.
Prices you verify and posts you write are public inside the app, attributed to your handle. That is the point of them. Nothing else you do is public.
Analytics is on by default and records app-instance-level events, never your email or your location. Turn it off in Settings → Share usage data and the app stops sending events immediately.
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. That removes your profile, saved items, orders, devices and posts within 30 days, including from backups. You can also email hello@menumenace.com from your account address and we will do it for you. See Support for the step-by-step.
Menu Menace is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or its deletion: hello@menumenace.com. If you are in the EEA or the UK, our lawful basis is the contract we have with you for the app's features, and legitimate interest for keeping the service working and honest.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app tells you before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
